Agri-Business Committee Members serve attendees at Kansas Beef Expo.

Committed to raising public awareness of the impact agriculture has on the Reno County economy, this committee works to strengthen urban/rural relations, address farm issues and recognize the importance of area farmers and agribusiness.

Each year, the committee selects three Farm Focus Couples, provides servers and refreshments to a variety of agricultural shows and outings, provides Grand Champion plaques to winners at the Reno County 4-H Fair, and coordinates the annual Farm/City Week Membership breakfast celebration.

The Ambassadors serve as the Chamber's welcoming committee and volunteer sales force. Ambassadors attend and conduct ribbon cuttings and grand openings. They also participate in the annual membership sales drive and serve as hosts/hostesses at Chamber functions.

The Annual Meeting Committee provides ideas and suggestions for planning and organizing the Chamber Annual Meeting held at the beginning of the calendar year. Chaired by the Chamber Board of Directors, Chair-Elect, the evening provides an opportunity for Chamber members to network and enjoy a program that typically includes a keynote speaker.

Committed to raising the awareness of public safety, COPS promotes positive programs for young people and development of innovative solutions to gang and youth violence.

The Education Committee concentrates on promoting a closer working relationship between education and business, particularly through the School/Business Partnership Program. The committee sponsors Teacher-for- a-Day program and recognizes local educators at a Spring Business After Hours.

Serving as the Chamber's lobbying group, the Legislative Affairs Committee monitors state and federal legislative issues affecting the local business community and sets the Chamber's annual Legislative Agenda. Each year, the committee sponsors Legislative Forums to provide an opportunity for community members to meet with and discuss issues with the Reno County legislative delegation.

Small Business Council

Committed to assisting small business, the Small Business Council develops and sponsors workshops and seminars with small business in mind, including the annual "B2B" (Business to Business) Networking Forum. The committee also works to increase public awareness of the role small business plays in the local economy. Four times a year the committee awards the "Small Business Spotlight Award" to a Chamber small business. To nominate a company for the Small Business Spotlight Award, they must have fewer than 25 employees, have been in business at least 3 years and are a current Chamber member. Please submit your nominations to Holly Schmidt.

Sports Tourism
Chair: Darrin Regier

Meets: Second Friday at Noon

The Sports & Recreation Committee supports the community's sports centers for state, regional and national events, as well as promotes local athletic programs, events and sportsmanship. Good Sportsmanship certificates are provided to participants in baseball, basketball and soccer programs with the YMCA, Hutchinson Recreation Commission and Cub Scouts. Each year the committee provides mementos to the 3A State Basketball Tournament participants.
