History/Overview

The Leadership Reno County Board of Trustees oversees the Chamber program that develops leaders for Hutchinson/Reno County. Leadership Reno County (formerly Leadership Hutchinson) has trained 27 classes of participants with 544 graduates since its inception in 1984. The mission of Leadership Reno County is to recognize, nurture and educate quality community leaders.

In 2004, the program name changed to reflect the evolution from a community orientation and networking focus to a leadership-skills training curriculum. Participants in the program learn how to serve out of personal mission and passion; develop people; develop performing communities; move groups through chaos; be inclusive; foster and support creativity; use consensus; build collaborations; lead to a shared vision; facilitate from the chair and be change agents.

Each class consists of 30 to 35 participants who are selected by the Board of Trustees from applications received.

Board of Trustees

All members of the board of trustees are Leadership graduates. Each serves a three-year term that is renewable for one additional three-year term.
