Hey Guys!
I am so excited about the 4th Friday Lunch a
Learns that we are going to be doing.
When I started working for the Chamber back in September, I really
wanted to be able to do some things for our members that could help them grow
their business. As many of you know, I
helped my husband with his business for awhile, and I personally realized the
struggles of owning a small business and how you have to wear so many different
hats everyday. I want the Chamber to
help all of you find ways to manage your business a little more
effectively. That is going to be what we
consider when we pick out different topics for our 4th Friday of the
month class. (On a side note, isn’t it funny how everything in Hutch has to be
a 2nd Wednesday or 4th Thursday etc ?!, I think I’ve got
most of the dates memorized, but no quizzes please!). Our first class will be this Friday (4th
Friday), and the topic will be on how to use “social media”. What a beast that is! We will be counting on Dave Mullins from Hutchinson Community College to help us all become
social media gurus! I look forward to
learning right along with all of you throughout the year! If any of you have ideas on what you would
like more education on, be sure to let me know. I really want this to be membership
driven and your success will mean our success! If you would like to sign up for
this upcoming class, please contact Hutchinson
Community College at 620-665-3559.
Best wishes!

Good Morning! Thank you Lowell for the introduction.
I'm very happy to be here and I look forward to getting to know and work with all of you in the near future.
I am a new Kansan, having lived somewhat south of here the past few years, as you can probably tell by my accent.
I have been in the economic development profession for nearly 20 years, having worked in Texas and Nebraska.I also have quite a bit of experience in Economic Development Consulting work in many other states.
The past few years for fun, I have been the public address announcer for one of the local high school football teams and have done extensive radio work as a play by play/color announcer and co-hosted a sports talk show on occasion.
Many of you may be wondering why I was interested in coming to Hutch. I have been looking to come back to the Midwest for quite some time, but it had to be the RIGHT opportunity.
With Hutchinson's diversified industrial base and its' central location in the US, I believe that opportunities are abundant for future success with the Chamber, Economic Development, and CVB.
John Daveline, Dave Kerr, and the staff have worked very diligently previously to make our organization what it is today.
My goal is simple, build upon the previous achievements of this organization an work to intensely enhance its' opportunities for future success.
The Staff and I have already discussed proposed projects for each respective department that will hopefully augment the services we provide to our Membership, Hutchinson, and Reno County.
As Lori Webb, our Director of Chamber Sales and Membership said to me this past Monday, "If we [the Chamber] don't provide all of these services, who will?"
SERVICE is the key word for what the Chamber, Economic Development, and CVB provides to all of our stakeholders. Unparalleled, outstanding service is what this organization will strive for during my tenure as its' President.
At This time I would like to introduce our Chamber Staff:
Belinda McClanahan- 25 years of service- Coordinator of Member Services
Judy Brown- 13 years of service- Director of Finance & Operations
Kate Quinlan-Laird- 3 years of service- Economic Development Project Manager
Lori Webb- 4 months of service- Director of Sales & Membership
Nicole Keidel- 1 month- Communications/Events
Bailey Stiggins- 1.5 weeks of service- Community Development Coordinator
Convention/Visitors Bureau Staff:
LeAnn Cox- Director of CVB
Judith O'Hara- Visitor Information Coordinator
Valerie Harper- Group Sales Coordinator
Holly Leiker- Sales Manager
We appreciate you being here this morning. We have a presentation for you today, put together by the Chamber Staff. I will now turn the podium over to Kate Quinlan-Laird, the Chamber's Project Manager for Economic Development.
