Miller’s Vinyl Fencing Receives Chamber Small Business Spotlight Award

Hutchinson, Kansas (October 1, 2008) – The Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce congratulates Miller’s Vinyl Fencing for receiving the October 2008 Small Business Spotlight Award. Miller’s Vinyl Fencing, located at 6107 W. Morgan Ave in Pleasantview, opened in 1990.

Miller’s Vinyl Fencing began as a small family-owned business at the home of Vern Miller in 1990. After three years in the business, Miller’s son Conrad joined the company and is now a co-owner. They purchased land in Pleasantview and built their current facility in 1995. The new location allowed for an expansion of services and products, and provided Miller the opportunity to bring in semi-loads of vinyl products. “We were one of the first vinyl fencing dealers in the state,” said Vern Miller.

Miller’s Vinyl Fencing offers vinyl fences, decks and railings, and specialty items such as arbors and picnic tables. “We primarily work with individuals and homeowners,” said Conrad Miller. “About eighty-five percent of our business is with homeowners and fifteen percent of our business is with contractors.”

Miller’s Vinyl Fencing works with customers within a 60 mile radius of Pleasantview, although some projects have taken them on job sites outside the general area.  In fact, Miller’s Vinyl Fencing has recently been working with Goertzen Homes in Inman, to provide railings for homes that have been purchased by residents in Greensburg, KS. “We’re pleased to be able to help the homeowners in Greensburg,” said Conrad Miller. “We’ve worked on a number of projects in that community.”

In addition to providing the equipment and services to the clients, Miller’s Vinyl Fencing is a designated fabricator with Royal Outdoor Products. “We’re one of the only businesses in the state of Kansas with a CNC Computerized Router. This allows us to customize our products and design a variety of styles.”

When asked why Miller’s Vinyl Fencing became a member of the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce, Vern Miller replied, “We joined the Chamber for the exposure and for the opportunity to mingle with other community members and prospective clients.”

The Small Business Council selected Miller’s Vinyl Fencing from nominations made by Chamber members. The award is given monthly to a Chamber business that exemplifies community spirit and superior business practices. Nominees must be a Chamber member in good standing, been in business for at least three years, and employ fewer than 25 people.

The Small Business Spotlight Award is proudly sponsored by First National Bank of Hutchinson and Hutchinson Credit Union.
