Chamber and Siemens to Provide Public Overview of Planned Hutchinson Facility

May 8, 2009

The Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce invites the public to attend an informational meeting regarding the new Siemens facility to be located in Reno County. The meeting will be held Tuesday, May 12 at the Historic Fox Theatre, 18 East First Street. An informal coffee reception with Kevin Hazel, Vice President of Supply Chain Management for Siemens Power Generation, will take place from 9:00-9:30 a.m., followed by a power point presentation of the future Siemens plant.

Mr. Hazel led the Siemens team that recommended Hutchinson for the company’s North American turbine production facility. Officials from Reno County and the cities of Hutchinson and South Hutchinson will be present and offered the opportunity to ask questions. Time may allow a few questions from the public as well.

Siemens Energy, the third largest maker of wind turbines, announced Tuesday that it has chosen to build its first U.S. nacelle production facility in Hutchinson. The facility, to be built in the Salt City Business Park, is expected to create an estimated 400 green-collar jobs. Construction on the new plant is expected to begin in August of 2009.
