Federation of National
Active & Retired Federal Employees
State Convention
HUTCHINSON, Kansas,
(March 28, 2008) – The Greater Hutchinson Convention/Visitors Bureau
(CVB) welcomes the Kansas Federation of National Active & Retired Federal
Employees (NARFE), to Hutchinson
for their State Convention. The conference will be held at the Grand Prairie Hotel and
Convention Center, from April 27-29, and is expected to draw approximately 200
attendees from all across Kansas.
“We are
pleased that NARFE chose to have their convention in Hutchinson,” said LeAnn
Cox, Director, CVB. “Each convention that is held in our
community has an impact on our local economy. This convention will have an
approximate economic impact of $56,000.”
The
Hutchinson Salt City Chapter will be hosting the event, with registration at
12:30 Sunday, April 27, or Monday from 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. The activities at the
convention will include various committee meetings, round table discussions,
informational speakers, election of state officers, silent and live auction to
raise funds for Alzheimer’s and a banquet on Monday night. Featured guest
speakers include: Chuck Timanus, Director of Public Relations from the national
headquarters in, Alexandria,
VA and Richard Thissen, Region V
Vice-President. The convention will close at noon, Tuesday, April 29.
The NARFE
organization is governed by an elected leadership consisting of approximately
1,650 chapters, 50 state federations, plus the District of Columbia. Kansas has 45 chapters. The main objective
of NARFE is to keep members informed of their earned benefits, to improve and
protect those benefits.
The
convention is open to any retired federal employee, member or non-member of
NARFE. Registration is required by April 7 and may be made by contacting Clyde
