Presents 2008 Hospitality Award
Hutchinson, KS – May 27, 2008 – The Greater Hutchinson
Convention/Visitors Bureau (CVB) awarded Mary Hemmings, Executive Director of
the Fox Theatre, the 2008 Hospitality Award, on Wednesday, May 14th
at the Annual Luncheon hosted by the CVB.
Hemmings
was awarded this distinction by exemplifying professionalism and providing
exceptional customer service to Reno
County visitors. “Mary is a person who has shown a true
dedication to her field, and been a leader for not only the Fox Theatre, but
also the arts community,” said LeAnn Cox,
Director of the CVB.
Prior to
coming to Kansas, Ms. Hemmings directed the University of Arizona's Cultural Affairs Artist
Series, where she was responsible for bringing in world class artists in a
variety of areas. She produced the ‘NBC Today Show with Willard Scot Live in
Tucson’ and
produced an annual brochure that won several graphics awards. She has served as
president of the KS Historic Theatre Association, is active in the League of
Historic American Theatres, and is currently serving her 2nd term as
the CVB Advisory Board Chairman.
The
Hospitality Award, honors a person that has made a significant impact to tourism
in the Reno County area, has previously been awarded to three other individuals
in the community; Jim Seitnater,
Downtown Hutchinson Revitalization Partnership in 2007; Jim Smith, Dillon
Nature Center in 2006; and Jim Swint, retired, Fun Valley Sports Complex in
2005.
