Manufacturer Increases Production and the Need for Employees
HUTCHINSON, Kansas
(June 3, 2008) -
- Since 1988, the Eaton Hydraulics Plant has been a consistent employer
in Hutchinson.
Today they continue to have a strong presence in the community, hiring and
increasing production.
“We are pleased to hear that production is
increasing and that Eaton is actively looking to fill 6-10 positions,” said
Dana Regehr, Economic Development Director, Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of
Commerce (HRCCC).
In June 2006, Eaton Corporation announced the
impending closure of seven North American plants, including Hutchinson. Later that summer, following a
tremendous effort by the community, Eaton reversed the Hutchinson decision. While the plant avoided
closure it did go through a series of layoffs and physical downsizing. Now,
Eaton has good news for the community as they plan to hire the first new
workers due to increasing demand in 2 years.
The reputation of Eaton workers is still very
positive. “The workforce in Hutchinson and Reno County
is loyal, efficient and hardworking,” said Dave Kerr, President, HRCCC. “We are
confident that Eaton will continue to offer many opportunities for their
employees and the community.”
According to the Center for Economic Development
and Business Research at Wichita
State University,
every new job that Eaton adds supports another 1.5 jobs in the area. Whether it
is medical, education or manufacturing, each job has a substantial economic
impact on the community.
