Howie Mandel – Thursday, September 16, 7:30 pm

Howie Mandel is most frequently recognized as the host of one of NBC’s most watched programs, the national phenomenon “Deal or No Deal.” The show allows contestants to have a chance of becoming an instant millionaire by combining nothing more than instinct and luck. Most recently, Mandel was added to the lineup of judges on the popular summer TV series “America’s Got Talent.”

Mandel’s versatile career in show business has lasted over 30 years and has included work on the Emmy-winning “St. Elsewhere” and Emmy-nominated “Bobby’s World.” Mandel got his break as a comedian in 1979 when his friends dared him to take the stage at amateur night at the legendary Comedy Store in Los Angeles. A producer was in the crowd that night and hired him to appear on the comedy game-show “Make Me Laugh.” His appearance on that show led to talk show appearances, a stint as Diana Ross’ opening act and eventually the television series, “St. Elsewhere.”

Mandel’s animated children’s series, “Bobby’s World,” ran eight seasons and now appears in syndication six days a week in 65 countries. As the series’ creator and executive producer, he was closely involved in its writing, as well as providing the voice of Bobby, Bobby’s dad and other characters. Mandel attributes the show’s success to drawing the story lines from real life.

Mandel has hosted his own syndicated talk show, “The Howie Mandel Show,” and frequently appears on “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno, performing his signature hidden-camera bits. Mandel is also one of the first people that Regis calls to fill in for him when he takes a vacation from “Live with Regis and Kelley.

In between a busy schedule of 200 shows a year, Mandel lives with his wife, Terry, and their three children in Los Angeles.

Selena Gomez – Sunday, September 19, 4 pm

Selena Gomez stars as Alex Russo in the Emmy-winning Disney Channel series “Wizards of Waverley Place,” which premiered in 2007. Gomez, 17, started acting at age 7 when she landed a role in the popular television series “Barney & Friends.” She was a regular on the show for two seasons. Starring in her first feature film role in 2003, she was cast in the sci-fi action adventure film Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over. In 2008, Gomez lent her voice to Horton Hears a Who!, and she’s also made guest appearances on “Hannah Montana” and “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.”

Gomez will be starring in the upcoming movie Ramona and Beezus in the role of Beezus, Ramona’s older sister, in theaters July 23. The movie is based off of Beverly Cleary’s popular children’s book series and follows the misadventures of young grade-school aged Ramona Quimby. Also in July, Gomez will launch a clothing line for Kmart called “Dream Out Loud.”

In her singing career, Gomez has recorded three songs for the Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie, as well as tracks for 101 Dalmatians, Another Cinderella Story, and Tinker Bell. Gomez recently released her pop-rock Hollywood Records premiere album, Kiss & Tell. Producer Ted Bruner, along with songwriters Gina Schock, Tim James and Antonina Armato and Selena's band, The Scene, wrap her vocals with fire and ferocity. On June 18, Radio Disney will air the premiere of “Round and Round,” marking the first single off her second album, which will be released in September.

In between her acting and singing commitments, Gomez still finds time to give back. She has participated in benefits for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and is involved with Disney’s Friends for Change, an organization that promotes environmentally friendly behavior. She was also twice named youth ambassador for UNICEF, a role that recently took her on a fact-finding trip to Africa.

Gate admission is included with Selena Gomez tickets when purchased through August 31. In addition, through July 31, for every four $35 tickets purchased to Selena Gomez, the Kansas State Fair will provide $20 in meal tickets that can be used towards the purchase of food and beverage during the visit to the Fair.
