Growth, Inc. Awarded $2 Million in BASE 2.0 Funding

Today Governor Kelly announced awardees of nearly $50 Million to thirty-eight projects across Kansas. Included in the announcement was a grant award of $2 Million to Growth, Inc., a division of the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce. The grant application was written by the staff of Greater Hutch, the economic development partnership for Reno County, which is funded by public-private partnership funding.

“This BASE 2.0 funding will be instrumental in helping us move plans forward for infrastructure for industrial development in Reno County along the K96 corridor, including a portion of the funds for a master plan and water line touring required infrastructure to this site,” said Debra Teufel, President & CEO. “We are appreciative of our State leadership for recognizing the role of partnering with economic development organizations like ours to create catalytic sites that will allow Kansas to attract more investment and future job creation.”

Growth, Inc. specifically applied for funding to aid in the development of the K96/Kimbell Industrial Park where Growth, Inc. owns 154 acres and is developing a plan for future industrial growth along the corridor.

“There are many people to thank for helping to advocate for Reno County on this project,” said Teufel. “The support and matching funds from the Greater Hutch Economic Development Partnership, City of South Hutchinson, City of Hutchinson, and Reno County’s $1.2M in ARPA funding, will all be instrumental in this project. Our state delegation including Michael Murphy, Jason Probst, Joe Seiwert, and Paul Waggoner were all helpful in advocating in support of this effort. Notably, Representative Paul Waggoner personally helped with meetings that allowed us to get in front of key state leaders to present our proposal.”

“Finally, and perhaps most significantly, I would like to posthumously thank Sharon Kimbell and the Kimbell family for making the initial $1 million gift to Growth, Inc last year, which we knew would help position our community to further advance development efforts. Sharon’s gift was instrumental in helping us to acquire land along the K96 corridor which will make a lasting impact on future industrial development in Reno County,” said Teufel.
