Hutchinson Regional Medical Center Adds to Growing List of Services

Hutchinson Regional Medical Center will add to a growing list of services with the July launch of Hutchinson Pulmonology Associates, a specialty clinic located within the hospital.

Pulmonology is an area of medicine that focuses on the health of the respiratory system. Pulmonologists treat everything from asthma to tuberculosis.

Dr. Mohammed Al-Halawani and Dr. Tariq Musa will join the hospital’s staff on July 1 and will see their first patients within approximately two weeks in a new clinic inside the hospital, adjacent to the Heart and Vascular Center. The telephone number (620-513-4800) has been established as a direct line to make appointments with the new doctors.

Drs. Al-Halawani and Musa come to Hutch Regional with impeccable credentials. Dr. Al-Halawani is Board Certified in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and completed a Sleep Medicine Fellowship at Yale-New Haven Hospital at Yale University. Dr. Musa is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and trained in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Missouri.

More than 18 million Americans have been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea. Dr. Al-Halawani’s certification in sleep medicine will be an asset to the Hutch Regional Sleep Center in diagnosing and treating an increasing number of sufferers of this sometimes life-threatening disease.

There is a shortage of Pulmonologists in south central and the western regions of Kansas and it is anticipated that Drs. Al-Halawani and Musa will help fill that void.

Both physicians are relocating to Hutchinson and look forward to being a part of our community. Several outreach clinics within the Hutch Regional service area may be established in the near future.

The opening of Hutchinson Pulmonology Associates is a watershed moment in the history of Hutch Regional as we expand our service offerings in response to the increased needs of those who reside in our service area and beyond.
