The Hutchinson store opened in 1978, first as on operational location.  After Marty Foster met the owner of the franchise through his fraternity in Tulsa, he purchased the franchise and brought on his brother, Paul Foster, to run the restaurant. Throughout the years they have increased their number of employees from 15 to 30, and while Ken’s was first known for its lunch buffet, they have now evolved to offer the buffet for lunch and dinner. Also, as young families have become more involved in activities, their carry out business has had a steady increase as well, and they continue to accommodate to the changing lifestyles.

One thing that sets them apart from other pizza locations is they handmake their pizza dough every morning from scratch, as well as make their pizza sauce daily in the store. They also get all their fruits and vegetables locally from Smith’s Market, allowing them to support another local business. Although they are a buffet restaurant, they pride themselves on fully serving each of their customers and insist on greeting and seating each customer as they arrive.

Paul mostly employs high school and college age students, providing a starting block for new employees within our community.  He likes to hire students who are involved in school activities and is flexible with their busy schedules. He enjoys watching his employees break out of their shells and in many cases, shine and become more outgoing due to their customer service role. Paul knows his business is about people and takes pride in providing a great quality product and experience for both his employees and customers.

Paul believes in being involved in the community and serving with his time and resources.  He donates to the United Way of Reno County and twice a year they do a fund raiser for the Early Education Center where all proceeds from those two days goes directly to the center. Ken’s Pizza is also involved with our local schools and churches and donates prizes for their various events.

Thank you, Paul, for all you do for our community!
