The Farm Focus Family Award began in 1985 as part of National Farm City Week.  2018 marks 100 families in Reno County that have been recognized for their contributions to Reno County Agriculture.  This year’s Farm Focus Family Award goes to Jim and Amy Theis.

Amy grew up on her family farm in Hutchinson and Jim has worked on a farm all of his life with the hopes of one day owning a farm of his own.  Jim and Amy began farming part-time with raising cattle until Amy’s parents decided to turn over their farm to them in 2010, allowing Jim to begin farming full time.  Today, their farm operation consists of raising cattle, and growing a variety of crops including wheat, corn, milo, and soy beans. In addition to helping on the farm Amy is also the Location Manager in Nickerson for Central Prairie Co-op.  Both Jim and Amy are very thankful for all the help and guidance they have had along the way, knowing they wouldn’t be where they are today without it.
