Advanced Physical Therapy began in Hutchinson as Preferred Physical Therapy in 2007 with 3 staff. Shane Katz saw a need in the community for Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy services, he and staff began reaching out to referral sources in the area about the unique services they could provide for their patients. They have relocated twice to accommodate patient and staffing growth. In 2014, their name changed to Advanced Physical Therapy and today is located at 2803 N Lorraine and have 16 employees.

What makes Advanced Physical Therapy unique is they offer OT and PT services
with staff that consists of Physical Therapists, PT Assistants, and an Occupational
Therapist. They also employ care coordinators and rehab technicians who often
will use this experience to advance their education to become therapists or therapist assistants. They also serve as a Clinical Site for students who have entered the PT and OT fields. They offer a variety of specialties that allow them to tailor the therapy to the individual needs of their patients. Many of their patients are post-surgical or post-injury referrals, but there are other restorative type services provided as well. Shane and the staff pride themselves with one-on-one care with a compassionate staff who celebrates our patients’ successes, a return to improved health, and overall well-being.

Recruiting Physical Therapists to relocate to the Hutchinson area and join their growing practice has been the biggest challenge. To overcome these challenges, they have offered hiring incentives, improved their benefits package to include industry leading paid time off and sick leave, in addition to a 401K with Employer match.  We take pride and responsibility with being one of the largest PT/OT practices in town.

To help with employee retention they focus on building their team through quarterly outings, activities outside of work, as well as monthly activities in the clinic, the team stays more engaged with each other. They also offer a goals-based program that puts the Employee’s earning potential within their control, based on various aspects of growth and development, in addition to performance. It’s a little unique but it is working very well. Employees are encouraged to volunteer within their communities for organizations that are important to them.

Shane serves as a Board Member for TECH and Prairie Star Health Center. He and his staff are also involved in the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Club of Hutchinson, Cancer Council of Reno County, numerous local school sponsorships, Open Door Pregnancy Center, United Way, and Soroptimist Club. Some involvement is with personal time spent serving and some is financial support of the various programs provided to the community.

When asked, Shane says they were honored to have been nominated for the Small Business Award and him and the growing team will continue their passion to serve the needs of our community and surrounding areas, while providing the highest quality of care to their patients. The goal is for their patients to improve their health and return to functioning at the highest level possible.
