All-American Junior Sheep Show Will Return to Hutchinson in 2019

Monday, February 27, 2017

Five years after the Kansas Sheep Association hosted the All-American Junior Sheep Show (AAJS) at the Kansas State Fairgrounds, they will once again converge on Hutchinson in 2019.  The board of directors recently voted to return to Hutchinson for the 26th annual show, July 4-7, 2019, with nearly 2,000 head of sheep and 350 junior exhibitors expected to be in attendance.  Exhibitors are expected from around 25 states, from Oregon in the west to Pennsylvania and Maryland in the east.

Overall, the show will bring 1,500 people to the Hutchinson community for the weekend.  In addition to sheep showing, exhibitors will participate in a Wool Show, Judging Contest, Skill-a-thon, other promotional contests and a 3-on-3 basketball tournament at the renovated Hutchinson Sports Arena. Many exhibitors and their families use the AAJS as a family vacation as there are many fun activities built into the sheep show.

“We are excited to welcome the exhibitors and their families back to Hutchinson!  With this being only the second time the show has been held in Kansas, we are thrilled that Hutchinson was once again chosen as the host location”, said Holly Leiker, National Sports & Destination Sales Manager for the Greater Hutchinson Convention/Visitors Bureau.

Since the show in Hutchinson in 2014, the AAJS has been to Springfield, MA and East Lansing, MI with plans for the 2017 show to be in Madison, WI, and the 25th Anniversary show in 2018 to take place in Indianapolis, IN.  Indiana was the host for the first nine shows before it started moving around the country.

“We are excited and honored to host the 2019 All-American Junior Show and we look forward to the nation’s largest junior show being in Hutchinson in July 2019”, said Jeff Ebert, Show Coordinator for the AAJS.  For questions regarding the show or the organization, contact Jeff at 785-458-9174.
