The Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber is pleased to announce the April 2018 Small Business Award recipient is Bartel Kitchen & Bath.

Bartel Kitchen got its start in 1974 when Lewayne Bartel decided to start a cabinet business in his home town of Buhler, Ks.  As the years passed, Lewayne added to his showroom making it one of the best in the state. With a 5,000 Sq. Ft. showroom the cabinet shop was able to branch out adding the full turnkey operation that it is today. In the late 1990’s the name changed from Bartel Cabinet Shop to Bartel Kitchen and Bath and then in 2012 Chris and Shelly Bartel purchased the business from Lewayne. This February Chris and Shelly celebrated 5 years of owning the family business!

Bartel Kitchen and Bath is the oldest family owned and operated full turnkey operation in Kansas, servicing three-quarters of the state of Kansas.  What makes Bartel Kitchen and Bath unique is that not only do they have a 5,000 Sq. ft. showroom with everything you will need in one convenient place, you also get one person that will help you from the beginning to the finish, making it easier to get the whole job done.

Bartel Kitchen and Bath is very fortunate that all of their employees have been with the company for over 20 years. When asked why, they have stated, “It has always been, we’re a family”. Their employees are number one to them and they treat them that way.  They are constantly praising their employees just as much as they push them to help the business grow. They know that without them, the business would not be open.

Community pride is one thing they put first at Bartel Kitchen and Bath. They recently added a new area of their showroom that is available for the community to rent at no charge for meetings, parties, and events. They felt like this would be one way to give back to their community and they can’t wait to see all the fun things in store. A few of the organizations they give to throughout the year include, Buhler 4H, Buhler Sunshine Home, Booster Club, Buhler Frolic, Buhler Garage Sales, Christmas on Main Street, Reigns of Hope, numerous charity events and Reno County Cancer Auction. They try to help every organization that walks through their doors in some way.

When asked to pick one characteristic that sets them apart, they said it would be caring. At Bartel Kitchen and Bath, they make it a point to take the time and get to really know their customers, treating them more like family than strangers. They tell every customer that when they buy from them, you become part of their family and not only will they be by your side until the job is done, but 5, 10, and 20 years from now as well.

Congratulations and thank you for all you do for our community.
