Wray & Sons Roofing Receives Small Business Award
Wednesday, April 20, 2022
Wray & Sons was originally established by Bernard & Lorena Wray in 1939. Their sons Greg, Cliff, and Jerry took over the business in 1994, and then five years ago Jerry retired, leaving the business to Greg and Cliff. Bernard and Lorena started the business with only a panel truck and a shed on “D” Street in South Hutchinson. In the early 1970’s, they purchased the property at 229 E. 3rd Street in Hutchinson, where their warehouse and offices are still located today.
At Wray & Sons Roofing they offer all types of roofing for both residential and commercial. They also have a sheet metal shop that fabricates materials and provides a crane service for Hutchinson and the surrounding area. Wray & Sons Roofing is truly a family-owned and operated business. Their nephew, Adam Clark, handles the residential side while Greg, Cliff, Grady, Dylan, and Colton handle the commercial side. Jerry, now retired, has also played a major role in the success of the business, helping guide the company through good times and bad.
Wray & Sons strives to provide quality workmanship based on honesty, reliability and doing the best they can to make all their loyal and new customers happy and satisfied. They have been fortunate to have several long-time employees still a part of the team with several employees having been there for over 20 years, along with their office manager Debbie who has been with the company for 44 years.
The entire Wray family enjoys being in Hutchinson and Reno County and serving the surrounding areas. Their father was a long-time member of the Optimist Club and Salvation Army, as well as serving on the Nickerson School Board and many other committees. Their mother raised seven kids, ran the office, and enjoyed teaching disadvantaged kids how to bowl. For many years, Wray and Sons has been proud members of the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce, as well as supporting the Salvation Army, Downtown Hutch Rod Run, school activities, coaching youth sports and many other community activities.
Thank you, Greg and Cliff, for all you do for our community.
