The Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present the April Small Business Award to T & B Electric.

Founded in 2018 by Travis Kinast and Blaine Barnes, T & B Electric was built on a simple but powerful idea—if you want greater opportunity, you create it. What started as a two-man team has quickly grown into a thriving company with 25 full-time employees, thanks to hard work, strong values, and a commitment to quality.

From the beginning, Travis and Blaine have focused on intentional, steady growth—and it shows. In 2022, they purchased their first commercial building, quickly outgrew it, and by 2025 expanded again into a larger facility to support their continued success.

T & B Electric has also set themselves apart through innovation especially with their use of prefabricated electrical kits. By preparing materials ahead of time, their team is able to work more efficiently on-site, reducing delays and delivering projects faster and more effectively for their clients.

But what truly powers this business is its people. With a strong team culture, competitive benefits, and a focus on taking care of their employees, T & B Electric has built a dedicated workforce, five of whom have been with the company for over five years.

Beyond their business success, they are deeply committed to our community - supporting local schools, booster clubs, the VA Hospital, and workforce initiatives. Travis also serves on the board of StartUp Hutch and has been active in the Building Trades, helping strengthen the future of our local economy.

When asked about success, Travis shared this advice: have a plan, embrace growth, and don’t be afraid to be uncomfortable, because that’s where real progress happens.
