KG Medical Receives Small Business Award

It is the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce's pleasure to recognize our August Small Business of the Month, KG Medical, owned by Kristin Goetz.

Sometimes the best business ideas come from asking a simple question: "How can we do this better?"

After spending 15 years in emergency room trauma care, Kristin Goetz saw firsthand the growing shortage of healthcare providers, especially in rural communities. While she loved caring for patients, she wanted the opportunity to build lasting relationships instead of simply treating an emergency and moving on. Following changes in Kansas law that allowed nurse practitioners to practice independently, Kristin and her husband, Mick, saw an opportunity—and KG Medical was born.

Since opening, KG Medical has exceeded expectations, serving nearly 1,500 unique patients from communities across Reno County and beyond. What began primarily as an urgent care clinic has naturally grown into a family practice and primary care clinic because Kristin took the time to listen to what her patients truly needed. Today, the clinic also offers in-house laboratory testing, X-ray referrals, and aesthetic services, creating a more comprehensive healthcare experience close to home.

What truly sets KG Medical apart, however, isn't just the services they provide - it's the way they care for people. Patients don't feel like a number. They know they'll be heard, they'll be respected, and they'll have direct access to someone who genuinely cares about their well-being. That commitment to compassionate, relationship-based care has earned Kristin not only a loyal patient base, but also recognition as a Rising Star Award recipient and a Governor's Award honoree.

Beyond the clinic walls, Kristin is deeply invested in the communities she serves. KG Medical supports local schools, FFA programs, community events, and organizations throughout rural Reno County. Her philosophy is simple: healthcare is about serving people, and that commitment extends well beyond an office visit.

When asked what has been the most rewarding part of owning her business, Kristin didn't talk about growth or awards. She talked about the relationships she's built with her patients and the opportunity to make a real difference in their lives every single day.
