SugarTime Confections Receives Small Business Award
Wednesday, October 21, 2026
It is the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce's pleasure to recognize our October Small Business of the Month, SugarTime Confections.
Malynda’s story is proof that sometimes the sweetest things in life start with a leap of faith — and, in her case, a whole lot of cookies!
SugarTime started in Malynda’s home in 2015 after she discovered her love for baking and decorating while making her daughter’s wedding cake, cupcakes, and 300 decorated sugar cookies. What started as a home-based business eventually grew into a Main Street storefront, where Malynda continued to dream up new treats and experiences for her customers.
And she’s never been afraid to try something new! From introducing Boba drinks to Hutchinson to jumping on the cocoa bomb craze in 2020, Malynda has always looked for creative ways to keep people coming back for more.
After making the difficult decision to close her Main Street shop in 2024, Malynda didn’t give up. She opened a new location at 1717 North Plum in 2025, where she’s continuing to grow SugarTime through catering, custom cookies, creative food offerings, and new ways to bring people together.
But what really makes Malynda special is her heart for people. She has created employment opportunities for individuals through organizations like Milestone Club House, Horizons, and Beyond Barriers, helping people build skills and gain valuable work experience. She’s also given generously to our community and continues to serve on the board of Milestone Club House.
A Hutchinson native and graduate of Hutchinson High School and Hutchinson Community College, Malynda clearly has a love for this community. Her goal goes beyond selling sweets — she wants to create experiences, bring people together, and help families make memories.
Please join me in congratulating Malynda Jarrett and SugarTime Confections, our Small Business of the Month!
